Park Hopping Anyone?

Usually you hear this question in reference to hitting multiple Disneyland Parks in several days. My friend, Racquel, and I decided we were going to take this to the extreme and take our kids to 10 parks around the American Fork area in ONE morning. I made our list and we loaded the kids in to the van and started at the Northern most AF park. The kids each had a camera and took great pictures from their point of view at the parks. We spent about 15 min at each park and had a blast. We made it to 7 parks in a 2 hour time period. We went to some parks that we have never been to and revisited some that we don’t get to very often! The end result: tons of pictures, parks we want to go back to and spend more time, sprinklers coming on in one (in the middle of morning–LAME!), tired mommies, happy kids, and lots of fun memories! There is a really supportive group of women in my area who have also adopted transracially and I am so glad that they have learned skills and are willing to teach them to others. They had a hair class and so I went with Josey to learn how to do the braid extensions to save us some money. I am so glad I did! 5 hours (broken up into 3 sittings over a Saturday), $7 worth of microbraid extensions, a couple of movies, and lots of treats later we had a little girl that had aged a few years and loved all of it! She woke up the next morning, looked in the mirror and said, “Mommy, I have princess hair!” The best part? I don’t have to do her hair for 5-6 weeks! Wahoo!

Josey LOVES to dance! Whenever music comes on she gets her groove on. She shakes her hips and shoulders and gets down! She asks me just about every day when dance class is. She is so darn cute at her class and is getting ready for her first little dance recital at the end of the month. She practices her dance moves anytime and anywhere and is really good at remember what comes next.

My own Little Princess!

Josey is my little princess! She loves everything cute, pink and frilly. She admires pretty things and will say “oh mama, that pretty!” We had the opportunity to go to a Princess Tea Party and the premiere of Disney’s “The Princess and the Frog” with a group of people that have all adopted children of another race. We dressed up in our princess dresses and had a blast! We had to drive all the way to Layton (1 hour each way) and had the tea part at this “castle”, but it was so fun to see her be able to interact with other black children and to have the whole theatre to ourselves! At the tea party they had Princess Tiana come, but Josey wouldn’t go near her! We had yummy chicken salad croissants and this great green salad. So good! I was a little worried about the movie, because Josey is 2 and has a hard time sitting longer than 20 minutes, but she LOVED it! She danced in front of her chair during all the music in movie and was such a blast to watch…man does she have rhythm!! She didn’t get that from me! It just have to say that having a little girl is SO MUCH FUN!!!

JOSEY IS 2 YEARS old!!! Holy Cow where does the time go? We celebrated Josey’s 2nd birthday while we were in Ohio. We got her a tea party set and food and she loves it! Everyone else gave her the cutest clothes. She loves cute things and says, “That cute Mama!” She loves her baby dolls and her Pooh Bear. She puts her diapers on them, wraps them in her blankies and “rock-a-byes” them in the rocking chair in her bedroom. She is cute and knows it! She turns on the charm when she wants to get her way and has already master the Art of the Tantrum. She loves to boogie on down to any music with a beat. Whe has a smile that will melt anyone’s heart and she knows how to use it! She loves her nursery class at church. She talks up a storm, especially on any phone she can get her hands on. She loves to follow her brother around, much to Spencer’s dismay. She’s my beautiful girl and I love her a lot!

Cheerleader for Spencer’s soccer games…”Go Pencer! Yay!”

”My bike! my BIKE!” Josey insisted on wearing her helmet, which is hard to fit right with all of her hair, but she loves her new trike!

Josey loves to read to Pooh Bear, no matter the book…in fact she asks to “read books!” all of the time. She’ll gather a collection and scoot herself into your lap for you to read to her!

My angel girl! Josey is at such an amazing phase right now! One minute she is sweet and loving and an angel and the next minute she is all emotions and sassiness!

Joe’s Valley, UT with my Fam!

Mom and Dad were in Florida for 6 weeks and so to celebrate the end of Summer, their arrival home and just a good excuse to get together, we all met at my sister’s cabin in Joe’s Valley. Joe’s Valley is a hidden gem in the Mid-Eastern part of Utah, south of Price. It is beautiful there, but it seems that not many people know about it. We drove up in the motorhome with Grandma and Grandpa Teeter which Spencer thought was the coolest thing next to sliced bread! Dave and RayNette Atkinson (old family friends) towed the wheelers up and we met Heather and her gang up there. We spent 2 days 4wheeling all over the place which was a total blast.

We went on an adults only 5 hour ride up to the ridge and the wildflowers were all abloom and breathtaking! We stayed up totally late talking and playing cards (had to teach my siblings how to play Canasta and Back Alley) while the kids played themselves ragged, hence the picture of Spencer totally DONE and crashed amidst the Legos. It was great being with my family and just relaxing and having fun!

4th of July

So we spent the early morning hours going to the Freedom Fesitval Hot Air Balloons with my good friend, Racquel and her girls (Kira and Olivia) while the dads golfed. They loved it. It was a crisp cool morning the blue of the sky contrasting beautifully with the bright colors of the balloons. Josey kept pointing and saying “bawoons mama, bawoons!” We had a great bbq with our neighbors, and finished the day off with Fireworks are Racquel’s mom’s house. It was a relaxing fun day!
