All Beaded Up

So I ran into this beautiful black woman and her 18 month old little girl who had braids and beads and was SO adorable. She gave of her wisdom and showed me how to do it, so we made an attempt at beading Josey’s hair yesterday. Considering I have never done it before, I think it turned out pretty darn cute! It only took us 3 1/2 hours spread out over the course of the day. She would sit still long enough to do about 3 braids and then we had to take a break…the only thing is that it makes her look even older than she already looks!! She LOVES to shake her head back and forth because the beads click together. It makes her giggle and then she does it again. She is at such a fun age right now.
Throw Up is DISGUSTING!
Okay, so Josey puked in the car on the way to Grandma and Grandpa Teeter’s house on Monday, we think she gets car sick…YUCK!! Then, Spencer woke up early Tuesday morning throwing up…at least he made it to the bathroom…(Chris got to spend the morning with him while I was in Salt Lake at an appointment) I hate it when he is sick because he just laid around all day long. Thank goodness it was just one day! Then this morning I had to go to Orem (15 min away) and just before getting off the freeway, Josey puked again, EVERYWHERE! I think the smell is permanently embedded in the fabric of my Jeep! I have Fabreezed it 4 times now and it still stinks! This is one of the gross parts of being a mom! Here’s to hoping that next week will not involve anyone throwing up! At least a mom can hope…right???!!
Spencer Walked with the Dinosaurs

Chris and Spencer went on a “date” last night to see the show “Walking with Dinosaurs” up in SLC. They rode TRAX into Salt Lake, ate dinner at the Energy Solutions Arena, and watched the show. They sat like 10 rows up, so he was in the middle of it all.

Spencer called me at intermission and in an excited voice said, “Mom!! I got to see real dinosaurs! They were carrying rocks! Dad got me a light up spinny toy with pterodactyls that spin around! It’s cool!” Chris said that it was really cool and when they got home, Spencer couldn’t stop talking about it…I bet he dreamed about dinosaurs all night long! What fun!
Josey’s 1st Steps…FINALLY!!
Okay, not that I really want her to be walking yet…I know what new challenges it brings…but she has been so close for so long that it is finally here. Most mornings Chris would ask her, “Is today the day? Let’s do some walkin!” Well Sunday night was the day. Chris was talking to Grandma Powell and she was asking if Josey was walking yet. She was sitting on the bottom stair and as if she heard Grandma’s question, she stood up and took 3 steps! We got her to take six steps total and had her walking back and forth between the two of us. She thinks she is “all that” when she takes steps and will clap her hands at the end and say, “YAAAAAA!”
Puerto Rico Vacation
So have you ever seen those Chevy Chase Vacation movies…this trip felt like one of those movies!! I called it our “comedy of errors” trip! If it could go wrong…it did! Luckily we were in a beautiful setting, wearing either a swim suit or shorts and sandals. Luckily too that most of the time we had a sense of humor and there were moments of bliss interspersed in all the chaos!
(At San Cristobal Fort, Old San Juan)
Spencer and Josey experienced the ocean for the first time…what fun! Check out the video of Spencer playing in the waves…he LOVED it! He really loved digging and playing in the sand. He also loved the FREE-dom he had with minimal rules and no bedtime. Josey did not love riding in the car…in fact, she threw-up twice in the brand new rental car. She loved the ocean as long as the waves didn’t spash her in the face and on one outing she even fell asleep in her floaty on my shoulder. They both traveled so well considering we spend a lot of time on planes and in cars. They were troopers!
The two days we spent at the Villas were my favorite days of the trip! After the day before spending 6 1/2 hours in a car driving 90 miles across the island to Rincon, we passed up spending more hours on a boat scuba diving to be lazy and play on the beach and in the ocean with our kids…it being Spencer’s first ocean experience! Those moments were the BEST of the trip.
