Lazy Days of Summer!
After a crazy busy week, we decided to do absolutely nothing that needed to be done in the yard or with the house on Saturday and took off up the canyon. We are so lucky to have the American Fork Canyon a short 10 minutes from us. We packed a picnic lunch and went for a drive to get out of the 90 degree weather and found cooler temps, a beautiful swift moving river (odd for the end of June in Utah), and fun just relaxing and spending time together! Spencer loved mucking in the dirt and climbing the “HUGE” rocks around our picnic area. He had fun hunting for bugs and watching the butterflies. When we got home we spent the rest of the afternoon playing with friends in their kiddy pool to cool off and enjoy nothingness! You gotta love the lazy days of Summer!
Crazy Kids!
So I have officially decided that children are weeds! Okay, not exactly weeds, but they sure grow like them (especially morning glory weed that spreads quickly!)
Spencer started T-ball this past week and wasn’t so sure about it. He cried as I walked him out to “warm up” with the kids, and played in the dirt most of the first day…but today he loved it! He hit the ball twice and ran “super fast” around the bases for a homerun! If anything is his idea, it’s a good one…if it is my idea–forget it!
Josey is 7 months old and getting mobile. She is days away from crawling–so not excited about that one! She army crawls and inch worm crawls and does full body push ups…it is only a matter of time! She is the cutest thing ever! She has all four of her middle teeth now and isn’t afraid to use them–ouch! Spencer has become her protector and tormentor all in one. It amazes me how that comes on all at once…he doesn’t like sharing his toys, yet expects her to turn over hers to him.
There are days like today where we all took naps–heavenly!–and were all better because of it, and days where it is amazing we are all alive when Chris comes home from work!
Learning to Ride a 2-wheeler
Okay, so most of you know that Spencer is a very active, energetic child right? Okay, so here is an example of his “go getter” attitude. I was talking to my neighbor and Spencer was out riding his bike with training wheels on. He rode up to me and said, “Mom, my training wheel sounds funny.” I took a look and sure enough the bolt was coming loose so the training wheel was moving up and down as he rode. I hand tightened it and told him when Papa came tomorrow that he would teach him how to ride his bike without traning wheels. I turned back to my neighbor and a few minutes later I hear Spencer say, “Look Mom, I got it off!” I then helped him take the other one off, had him sit on the bike, told him when he started to tip to the side to put that leg down, then practiced tipping both ways a few times. Mind you I am still holding onto the back of his bike seat when he says, “okay Mom, just let go!!!” I gave him a little push an off he went!!! He was turning, stopping, starting and riding like an old pro 2 hours later when Chris got home from work! WOW!! I knew he was good, but come on! He was so proud of himself that he told everyone he saw (several times) that he could ride his bike without training wheels. He truly is a remarkable kid!
Finally FINAL!!
We finalized everything with Josephine this past weekend! So amazing! It is so interesting the weight that is taken off your shoulders knowing that this tiny baby is yours in the eyes of the land (the Judge signing…which was a little nerve racking because the State of Utah messed up a date on the paternity search). We had a beautiful time and Josey was breathtaking in her white blessing gown. When you adopt, the uncertainties weigh on your mind until that six month court date is here and everything is “official”. Thank goodness that part is behind us and now on to raising our beautiful children.
